Payment Schedule
Deposit: $250 to secure your position on the research team. (Transferable deposits. All deposits can be transferred to a future program, to a friend or family member, or donated to another applicant in the Global Treks world within 2 years of the payment date.)
Remainder: $2,250. Due April 15, 2023.

Cancellation Policy
Transferable deposits. All deposits can be transferred to a future program, to a friend, a family member, or donated to another applicant in the Global Treks world for up to 2 years of the payment.
Payments made after the deposit can be refunded up to 45 days before the first day of the trip. Cancellations within 45 days of the first day of the trip are non-refundable.
Travel Insurance
For travel insurance, Global Treks and Adventures is not associated with anyone in particular or sell insurance directly. We have used insuremytrip.com in the past and had a good experience. They have several options you can review. There are also a lot of other options available online, so we recommend interns take their time and find a plan that fits their individual situation. Please note, while recommended, it is not required to purchase travel insurance.
Guidelines for Purchasing Flights
The Global Treks team will be meeting everyone at the Kona International Airport in Kona, HI (airport code KOA). Once we collect everyone at the Kona airport we will drive the 30 minutes to the research base in Kahaluu-Keauhou. Interns should plan on arriving to the airport by 3:00 pm on their expedition start date. We will be leaving the airport at 3:00 pm to head to the research base and begin orientation. If you will be arriving by car or taxi please let us know so we can send you the address and make sure someone is there to meet you.
Global Treks will transport the team to the airport on the last day of the expedition in the morning, so flights can be purchased to depart anytime on the final expedition day. Everyone will need to be out of the research base by 10 am on the final day. The last shuttle to the airport from Global Treks guides will be at 10 am. Please note: If you have a flight that departs late at night please make arrangements for your own transportation.
